It is important to begin by noting how common the herpes simplex virus is in adults around the globe. It is estimated that two in four adults have contracted the virus, although herpes can remain dormant in the body for many years. While there is no cure, Ozone Therapy has proven to help treat and relieve symptoms of the Herpes virus.

What is the Herpes Simplex Virus?

Herpes can be grouped into two types– herpes type 1  (HSV-1, oral herpes) and herpes type 2 (HSV-2, genital herpes). HSV-1 typically involves cold sores or blistering around the mouth and lips. While HSV-1 can cause genital herpes, it is typically HSV-2 that causes herpes on the genitals or rectum.

Causes of Herpes Infection, Transmission and Outbreaks

Herpes type 1 is transmitted through oral sores, and can be spread through kissing, as well as sharing toothbrushes, glasses, silverware etc. The virus typically survives for short periods of time outside of the host, but can live on surfaces for up to 8 weeks. Herpes type 2, on the other hand, is solely transmitted through sexual contact with someone who has the HSV-2 infection. It is important to note that even if no sores are currently present, the herpes virus is still active and can be spread to others.

For most individuals who have contracted herpes, the virus has periods of dormancy and outbreaks. Attacks or outbreaks can be brought on by a series of stressors including

  • General illness
  • Fatigue
  • Emotional and physical stress
  • Immunosuppression

Most often, the herpes simplex virus can be diagnosed based on its appearance, and does not require further testing. If necessary, the herpes simplex virus can also be diagnosed using lab tests (DNA or PCR tests), as well as virus cultures.

What is Ozone Therapy?

Ozone therapy is the process of administering ozone gas into the body, typically to treat a disease and/or wound. Ozone is a colorless gas that is made of 3 oxygen atoms (O3) that are bound together by energy. Ozone-oxygen mixtures have been reported in scientific journals to inactivate microorganisms such as bacteria, fungi, and viruses. Ozone increases metabolism of oxygen, regulates oxidative stress, metabolic regulator, immunological modulator, and broad-spectrum germicide. Data suggests that a wide range of viruses can be inactivated through ozone exposure. The results of Ozone therapy also point to a reduction of viral infectivity.

Treatment: How Can Ozone – Regular/UBI (Ultraviolet Blood Irradiation) help?

Ozone therapy is commonly and effectively used to treat the Herpes virus. Some benefits of Ozone therapy for the Herpes Virus Include:

  • Decreased viral and bacterial load
  •  Systemic anti-inflammatory
  •  Decreased joint pain

Along with the Ozone-oxygen mixture, our Ozone therapy includes Ultraviolet Blood Irradiation, which stimulates white blood cell activity, a bactericidal effect related to increased immune activity, reduces excess amounts of white blood cells, inactivation of toxins, and destruction of viruses and bacteria. Benefits of UBI include:

  • increases microcirculation
  • decreases blood viscosity
  •  increases peripheral circulation
  • increased blood cell production

Herpes 1 and 2 are very common, but ozone therapy can work effectively to reduce symptoms.

Pairing Ozone therapy with the Myers Cocktail or Immune Booster Infusion is also helpful, as these have high doses of vitamin C, lysine, zinc, and glutathione and can help relieve some of the pain and discomfort that accompanies herpes.
