Dr. Beth Ballen, Physican & Founder of CRIC:
Hello, I’m Dr. Ballen and today I’d like to talk to you about alcohol addiction and recovery. Signs of alcohol abuse and addiction can include using alcohol to self-medicate. In other words, to avoid feeling bad, to cope with difficulties and then self soothe and relieve stress.
Without treatment alcoholism can lead to severe health problems including cirrhosis and liver failure. It can rob you of your relationships, your job, your sense of joy and everything that is important to you.
The CDC reports that one in ten deaths of adults between the ages of 20 and 64 is related to excessive alcohol use.
If drinking is causing problems in your life, you have a drinking problem. Alcoholism is a disease. It’s a biological illness often genetic and you can’t will it away or shut it off. Most people require professional help and most programs provide therapy but do not address the need to restore the neurotransmitter systems for optimal functioning and to aid in relapse prevention.
Our natural alcohol detoxification and recovery program includes our hallmark amino acid vitamin and mineral infusion therapy along with group and individual therapy and when needed, medications.
Our goal is to keep patients as comfortable as possible. We can greatly diminish the symptoms of withdrawal along with the safety risk that comes with detoxing alone.
Alcoholism can be a difficult topic to talk about and we’re here to help. For more information on alcohol is them and recovery please call us or visit our website.
