Dr. Beth Ballen, Found of CRIC & Ballen Medical
Hello, I’m Dr. Beth Bellen, I’m a psychiatrist in Denver, Colorado and today I’d like to talk to you about depression treatment. At least one in ten people suffer from depression at any given time.
Signs of depression can include feeling down, to profound sadness and hopelessness, irritability, mood swings, sleeping too much, or too little, changes in appetite, loss of joy, fatigue, loss of energy, and difficulty with focus and memory and at worst suicidality.
Depression can look different for different people. Some people may just feel anger and agitation and irritability and not necessarily a sense of sadness. Some people will find that they have difficulty getting out of bed in the morning, motivating to do things that they normally would enjoy. Often relationships suffer, work suffers, school suffers.
Intravenous amino acid and vitamin therapy can provide a natural, safe alternative to traditional depression treatment medications. Amino acid therapy can be helpful for depression patients not responding to medications or for people who prefer a more natural approach to treatment. Amino acid therapy can also be effective for anxiety, OCD, and ADHD. We also see clients who have been on medication including antidepressants and anxiety medications, ADHD medications, and sleeping pills that desire to discontinue their medication without experiencing discomfort and withdrawal.
The goal of treating depression with amino acid therapy is to rebalance the neurotransmitter system. Replenishing your transmitters such as serotonin that has been depleted either by stress, depression, illness, or other factors.
Amino acid therapy is also combined with psychotherapy and traditional medications when needed.
